Cursed nightlife venue 141 Chrystie Street in Lower East Side is on the market as a development site. <\/p>\n

Located on the west side of Chrystie Street between Delancey and Broome streets, the two-story commercial building measures about 4,130 square feet. The 23′ by 105′ lot comes with 16,380 buildable square feet as-of-right, according to the Ariel Property Advisors listing. With an inclusionary housing bonus, that figure jumps to 21,420 buildable square feet.<\/p>\n

Developers would be able to construct a building up to 125 feet tall; the existing structure could hold another ten stories atop the existing two stories, as shown by the 3D diagram below:<\/p>\n

Bowery Boogie<\/a> has the whole backstory of the former law office\/warehouse, which was converted into a nightclub in 2011, complete with an embellished blue-lit facade. In July 2011, Mystique officially opened<\/a>, before rebranding itself as Chrystie 141<\/a> around October that year. In 2012, new club concept Inga by Travis Bass took over, followed by Bobby’s by Selim Adira and Bobby Persson in March 2013. Last summer, not-at-all-prostitutional sports bar Red Heels made its debut upstairs, then changed its name to LES Sports Bar. <\/p>\n

This summer, Bowery Boogie<\/a> has been noticing “a torrent of real estate listings” for the business on Craigslist, asking $1.2 million in key money, plus $14,518 in monthly rent.<\/p>\n

One could imagine that in this situation, new apartments might actually be more welcome than a nightclub or bar. The current Ariel Property Advisors listing declares, “With the Essex Street Crossing project expected to bring 4,400 construction jobs and approximately 1,600 permanent jobs to the neighborhood… 141 Chrystie Street provides future owners an opportunity to capitalize significantly on a heavy increase in demand and foot traffic to an area that is already well sought after from both students and young professionals.”<\/p>\n
