A Harlem townhouse formerly owned by nonprofit Hale House is being converted into four apartments.<\/p>\n

Located at 152 West 122nd Street, the turn-of-the-century property sits on a 19′ by 100′ lot. SLM Architecture PC is the architect of record, according to permits filed July 24th<\/a>. The residences will consist of a ground-level duplex and three full-floor units.<\/p>\n

The developer is Dabar Development<\/a>, the firm behind The Marshall Condominiums at Harlem’s 222 West 135th Street.<\/p>\n

Hale House placed the five-story plus cellar building on the market in December 2013 with an asking price of $2.7 million, Curbed<\/a> reported. The organization, established in 1969 by Clara McBride Hale, provides services for children and families in need. Local officials helped “Mother Hale” purchase the 1910 brownstone decades ago for the non-profit’s initiatives and administrative functions.<\/p>\n

Dabar Development bought 152 West 122nd in June for $2.2 million, according to Department of Finance records. The Corcoran listing says the 4,387-square-foot building, originally conceived as a single-family home, has six bedrooms, three full bathrooms, three powder rooms, “a gracious front courtyard, a lovely garden and ample additional interior space on the garden level that could be used for a multitude of purposes.” Interiors feature hardwood floors, a grand parlor floor, wooden coffered ceilings and six fireplaces total.<\/p>\n
