<\/a><\/p>\nResidents at 85 Eastern Parkway in Prospect Heights are concerned about plans to add seven floors to the top of the rental building.<\/p>\n
In January, we first reported on the expansion proposal<\/a> for the 42-unit, six-story Martha Washington building near the Brooklyn Museum. The mixed market-rate and rent-stabilized complex dates back to 1922.<\/p>\n 85 Eastern Parkway owner Mordechai Nagel filed permits on January 10th<\/a> to add about 30,000 square feet and boost the total apartment count to 82 units, with Sandor Weiss as the architect of record. The tenants found out about the plans from, well, us \u2014 and now they’re worried about disruptions from construction, DNAinfo<\/a> reported. <\/p>\n \u201cThe whole block is in an uproar,\u201d fourth-floor resident Alison Kelley told DNAinfo. Kelley added that she walks with a service dog and is apprehensive about elevator access to her fourth-floor apartment during work on the building.<\/p>\n At a meeting on January 15th, David Mandel of Triple J&R contracting told tenants that the construction would take about two years, according to DNAinfo.<\/p>\n
