<\/a><\/p>\nPermits have floated from the sky for Morris Adjmi’s latest residential project in the Ladies Mile Historic District of Flatiron.<\/p>\n
The block-through development at 7 West 21st Street will consist of two buildings, one at West 21st and one at West 22nd. The 14-story mixed-use project will hold 239 apartments, with 8,211 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor. There will be attended parking for 50 cars, bike storage, an exercise room, lounge, playroom, game room and a central courtyard shared by the two structures. The development will be 144 feet tall, according to the plan exam application filed February 10th<\/a>.<\/p>\n Friedland Properties is the developer. The Adjmi creation is set to rise on a parking lot that Friedland acquired in 2013. The buildings will be clad in terracotta<\/a> on the upper levels, with recessed window openings creating a gridded pattern on the facades.<\/p>\n Adjmi presented his design to the Landmarks Preservation Commission in September 2013; the commissioners didn’t care for the proposed base of the facade, calling it “horizontally arranged,” “too soft” and “squat,” Curbed<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n
