{"id":69977,"date":"2013-12-31T09:05:11","date_gmt":"2013-12-31T14:05:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/?p=69977"},"modified":"2014-02-03T11:06:18","modified_gmt":"2014-02-03T16:06:18","slug":"montreal-apartment-rents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/archives\/montreal-apartment-rents","title":{"rendered":"Map: See where apartment rents have gone up or down in Montreal"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 id='pressboard-ad-sponsorship-tag' style='margin-bottom: 35px;'><\/h4><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/2013\/12\/montreal-apartment-rents.html\/montreal-rent-2\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-69995\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-69995\" alt=\"montreal rent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/montreal-rent.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Photo: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/mabi\/10650311796\/\" class=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">m.a.r.c.\/Flickr<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Though the vacancy rate of 2.8 per cent in Montreal has remained unchanged from last year, that doesn&#8217;t mean that apartment rental prices have stayed static.<\/p>\n<p>We looked into the CMHC&#8217;s latest <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmhc-schl.gc.ca\/odpub\/esub\/64411\/64411_2013_A01.pdf?fr=1388414821339\" class=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">rental market report<\/a>\u00a0to see just where prices for Montreal apartments (as opposed to rental condos) have gone up or down. Here&#8217;s what we learned by looking at everything from the cost of a bachelor pad to three bedroom apartment:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Overall, the average cost of a Montreal apartment rental rose from $692 in October 2012 to $708 in October 2013, for a 2.3 per cent rise (<a href=\"http:\/\/ctt.ec\/c0fX7\" class=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">Tweet this<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Two-bedroom apartments in Zone 6 (Plateau Mont-Royal) saw the sharpest increase, rising from\u00a0$807 to $938, year-over-year for a 16.23 per cent jump (<a href=\"http:\/\/ctt.ec\/seG6W\" class=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">Tweet this<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Zone 2 (Le Sud-Ouest, Verdun) was on two of the top 3 price increase lists: its\u00a012.32 per cent increase for bachelor apartments was the highest throughout Montreal and its one bedroom apartments recorded the second highest price boost with a 6.95 per cent increase.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Check out the interactive maps below and the tables of the
