{"id":61847,"date":"2013-10-21T13:26:35","date_gmt":"2013-10-21T17:26:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/?p=61847"},"modified":"2024-02-19T02:57:27","modified_gmt":"2024-02-19T07:57:27","slug":"1655-madison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/archives\/1655-madison","title":{"rendered":"This glam-metal building is coming to 1655 Madison in East Harlem"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 id='pressboard-ad-sponsorship-tag' style='margin-bottom: 35px;'><\/h4><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/2013\/10\/1655-madison.html\/1655-madison-exterior\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-61848\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-61848\" alt=\"1655 Madison exterior\" src=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/1655-Madison-exterior.jpg\" width=\"616\" height=\"770\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Renderings: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hap-ny.com\/hap-six-ny.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"external\">www.hap-ny.com<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Design overload ahead \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/new-york-ny\/new-homes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1655 Madison Avenue<\/a> in East Harlem is getting a flashy mixed-use building.<\/p>\n<p>Located between East 110th and East 111th streets, the eight-story project will have 19 apartments, with commercial space on the ground floor, according to the plan exam application filed <a href=\"http:\/\/a810-bisweb.nyc.gov\/bisweb\/JobsQueryByNumberServlet?requestid=4&amp;passjobnumber=121236420&amp;passdocnumber=01\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"external\">October 16th<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The developer is HAP Investments, which tapped heavyweight industrial designer and interior architect Karim Rashid to create a &#8220;diamond signature building.&#8221; Rashid&#8217;s previous works include the Garbo garbage can, the Oh Chair for Umbra and manhole covers for Con Edison.<\/p>\n<p>The architect of record is TPG Architecture. Amenities will include a virtual doorman, common roof with landscaped garden, private storage for every unit, laundry room and bicycle room, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hap-ny.com\/hap-six-ny.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"external\">developer&#8217;s site<\/a>. The official website for the building, written in Hebrew, is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hapsix.com\/desktop_asp.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"external\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 50-foot wide development site sold for $2.2 million in May, according to public records. The lot came with Department of Buildings-approved plans for a 24,375-square-foot residential building, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.masseyknakal.com\/listingimages\/setup\/pdf\/1653-1655_Madison_Avenue-_Setup_2.2.12.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"external\">Massey Knakal listing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Have some floorplans and renderings below, from the HAP Investments site.
