<\/a><\/p>\nPhoto: GMAP<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n Alphabet City is getting a new seven-story mixed-use building at 127 Avenue D.<\/p>\n The 11-unit project will have ground-floor retail and 7,932 square feet of residential space, according to the plan exam application filed October 16th<\/a>. Located between East 8th and East 9th streets, the property sold for $1.8 million.<\/p>\n The lot was home to a bodega, which was fined by the city in 2012 for\u2026 illegal parking, The New York Times<\/a> reported. Turns out that the property was originally zoned for use as as “garage for not more than five automobiles and storage,” according to the Certificate of Occupancy issued in 1940. The bodega owner, Bernard Margalit, applied for a change in the Certificate of Occupancy, although we suppose it’s a moot point now.<\/p>\n The developer is H Holding Group<\/a>, which was established in 2003 by Sharon Hakmon. The firm’s recent projects include four luxury townhouses at 449-453 Degraw Street<\/a> in Boerum Hill. The four buildings, rising on a former parking lot, will be designed by Caliendo Architects. 449-453 Degraw is scheduled to be finished in March 2014, according to the developer’s site<\/a>.<\/p>\n Bodega no more!
