{"id":53425,"date":"2013-08-13T13:20:24","date_gmt":"2013-08-13T17:20:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.buzzbuzzhome.com\/?p=53425"},"modified":"2013-08-14T12:25:40","modified_gmt":"2013-08-14T16:25:40","slug":"vancouver-exchange-canada-tallest-sustainable-tower","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/archives\/vancouver-exchange-canada-tallest-sustainable-tower","title":{"rendered":"Vancouver&#8217;s The Exchange will become one of Canada&#8217;s tallest sustainable office towers"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 id='pressboard-ad-sponsorship-tag' style='margin-bottom: 35px;'><\/h4><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/2013\/08\/vancouvers-the-exchange-will-become-one-of-canadas-tallest-sustainable-office-towers.html\/the-exchange-close-up\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-53440\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-53440\" alt=\"The Exchange close up\" src=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/The-Exchange-close-up.jpg\" width=\"724\" height=\"437\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Credit Suisse&#8217;s $200 million Vancouver project, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theexchangebuilding.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"external\">The Exchange<\/a>, has been given the green light from the City and is set to become one of the tallest green buildings in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Designed by renowned architect Harry Gugger &#8212; the man behind Bejing\u2019s Bird&#8217;s Nest Stadium &#8212; the building will target LEED Platinum, the highest designation from the Canada Green Building Council. The structure will use half the energy of a building of comparable size, essentially lowering operating costs for tenants.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We believe in Vancouver&#8217;s economy and its future,&#8221; said Herbert Meier, Credit Suisse\u2019s director of real estate asset management. &#8220;We believe in supporting the City of Vancouver&#8217;s vision to become the world&#8217;s &#8216;greenest&#8217; city by 2020.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The neighboring Old Stock Exchange building, built in 1929, will be renovated and restored as part of the development, becoming Canada\u2019s first LEED Platinum heritage conversion.<\/p>\n<p>Construction on The Exchange is slated to start in October, with the project expected to be finished in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Design renderings:<\/p>\n<p><a
