{"id":52095,"date":"2013-08-02T13:30:45","date_gmt":"2013-08-02T17:30:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.buzzbuzzhome.com\/?p=52095"},"modified":"2013-08-02T17:05:15","modified_gmt":"2013-08-02T21:05:15","slug":"6-texas-housing-markets-make-top-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/archives\/6-texas-housing-markets-make-top-10","title":{"rendered":"6 Texas housing markets make top 10 list of largest recoveries in the US"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 id='pressboard-ad-sponsorship-tag' style='margin-bottom: 35px;'><\/h4><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/2013\/08\/6-texas-housing-markets-make-top-10.html\/texas\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-52098\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-52098\" alt=\"texas\" src=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/texas.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>According to a recent <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.homes.com\/2013\/07\/local-market-report-may2013\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"external\">study<\/a> by Homes.com, 19 out of 100 of the US\u2019s major housing markets measured more than a 100 percent rebound from the price decline attributable to the recession in May, up from 14 markets in April 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The report shows six of the top 10 markets that saw the highest rebound are located in Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Homes.com measured the rebounds by comparing market prices before the Great Recession and prices as they declined through the recession to their ultimate low. Markets showing a rebound of 100 percent or higher means that the area has fully recovered any price decline that resulted from the recession.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The six Texas markets included in the top 10 rebounds list are&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>San Antonio-New Braunfels 227.20 percent<\/li>\n<li>Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown 217.98 percent<\/li>\n<li>Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos 214.38 percent<\/li>\n<li>Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington 198.81 percent<\/li>\n<li>McAllen-Edinburg-Mission 179.24 percent<\/li>\n<li>El Paso 129.28 percent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Many of these Texas markets not only saw a rebound, but also witnessed prices surging past their pre-recession levels.<\/p>\n<p>In Dallas, for instance, it is currently more expensive to buy a home in today\u2019s market than it was in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>According to a recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20130801006124\/en\/Demand-Continues-Surge-Texas-Real-Estate-Quarter?utm_source=dlvr.it&amp;utm_medium=twitter\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"external\">report<\/a> released by the Texas Association of Realtors, prices continued to strengthen in the second quarter of 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The median price in the second quarter of 2013 was $177,300, up 9.98 percent from the year before. The average price of homes in Texas increased 10.44 percent from 2012 to $235,075 this quarter.<\/p>\n<p>These are the highest numbers ever seen for the median and average price in Texas real estate
