Hudson Projects<\/a> has taken the opportunity to revitalize another\u00a0historic Vancouver landmark.<\/p>\n

Block 1910<\/a> is a collection of modern residences perfect for families, with two- and three-bedroom floor plans available.<\/p>\n

Within this development is the historic McConaghy House, restored to protect the original design. This standalone house will be a part of Block 1910<\/a>, tying together the past and present. The McConaghy House was named for its builder, John McConaghy. In 1906, John left Ontario for BC, where he met and eventually married Sara Ross of New Westminster.<\/p>\n

They moved to Nanaimo Street and John worked as a contractor \u2013 the following year, in 1910, he built the McConaghy House. What makes this home special is that it was witness to working-class life in Vancouver for over a century. Records show weddings have taken place there and multiple generations have been raised in the home.<\/p>\n

The project is similar to its restoration of Hudson Projects<\/a>‘\u00a0Broadhurst & Whitaker.<\/a> In this case, keeping the home on the property was a city requirement. However, one of the reasons Hudson Projects<\/a> acquired the site was because of the opportunity to incorporate a 1910 character home into an elevated family-oriented development. By keeping bones of the existing home, Hudson Projects<\/a> then moved the structure on site. They also lifted and expanded the back of the house in order to create three distinct character homes.<\/p>\n

Designed in collaboration between Birmingham & Wood, Zara Sangha Interior Design and Architrix Design Studio, Block 1910<\/a> includes the restored McConaghy House, modern city homes and a private single family residence, featuring private roof terraces, attached garages, chef’s kitchens and modern finishings such as Caesarstone countertops and engineered hardwood.<\/p>\n

Located on E. 5th Avenue between Guelph and Prince Edward Street, Block 1910<\/a> is located in the heart of Mount Pleasant. Minutes away, you will find a mix of retail, Dude Chilling Park, the future Broadway Skytrain, and plenty of restaurants.<\/p>\n
