You might be familiar with Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue for its proximity to the Davisville TTC station, the Mount Pleasant Cemetery and the host of retailers lining Yonge Street.<\/p>\n

The Midtown intersection has captured the interest of big-name developers lately, who\u2019ve submitted a series of high-rise applications for the area in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a breakdown of five recent development applications we\u2019ve spotted for Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue.<\/p>\n

\u200b\u200b289 Balliol Street<\/a><\/h2>\n

Developer: Menkes Developments Ltd.<\/a><\/em>
\n Architect: Turner Fleischer Architects<\/a><\/em>
\n Application submitted: November 5th<\/a><\/em>
\n Size: 28 storeys, 260 units<\/em><\/p>\n

Crowned as Canada\u2019s second-tallest builder<\/a> by storey counts, Menkes Developments Ltd. has proposed a 28-storey residential tower just west of Mount Pleasant Road.<\/p>\n

If approved, the high-rise would provide 260 units. Above the building\u2019s five-storey podium, a large indoor-outdoor amenity facility on the sixth floor would be constructed. The project would also contain 44 parking spaces in a three-level underground garage.<\/p>\n

45 Balliol Street<\/a><\/h2>\n

\n Application submitted: November 8th<\/a><\/em>
\n Size: 39 storeys, 507 units (Rental and condo)<\/em><\/p>\n

An existing apartment building could share its lot with a new 39-storey residential high-rise. Built in a \u201cT\u201d formation, the new development would comprise a 12- and six-storey podium with a 27-story tower component above.<\/p>\n

Combined with the existing apartment building\u2019s units, there would be a total of 771 residential units on the site.<\/p>\n

1910 Yonge Street<\/a><\/h2>\n

Developer: Davpart<\/a><\/em>

\n Application submitted: November 5th<\/a><\/em>
\n Size: 45 storeys, 982 units (Rental and condo)<\/em><\/p>\n

Known as the builder behind The United Bldg. Condos near University Avenue and Dundas Street West, Davpart has proposed to construct two residential towers at 1910-1944 Yonge Street.<\/p>\n

Reaching heights of 45-storeys, the towers would contain 880 condo units and recessed balconies throughout. A 10-storey podium would offer retail and office space, amenity facilities and 102 rental replacement units.<\/p>\n

2010 Yonge Street<\/a><\/h2>\n

\n Application submitted: November 8th<\/a><\/em>
\n Size: 14 storeys, 164 units<\/em><\/p>\n

On the west side of Yonge Street, a series of buildings with retail and office uses could be demolished to make way for a 14-storey development with 164 condo units.<\/p>\n

Retail space would occupy the ground floor, with offices and daycare facilities on the second level. Terraced balconies, created by architectural setbacks in the building\u2019s design, would be included along the front, north and south building facades.<\/p>\n

50 Merton<\/a><\/h2>\n

\n Architect: Hariri Pontarini Architects<\/a><\/em>
\n Application submitted: November 3rd<\/a><\/em>
\n Size: 39 storeys, 443 units<\/em><\/p>\n

Two buildings would be demolished to allow the development of a 39-storey tower with a four-to-five-storey podium just north of Mount Pleasant Cemetery.<\/p>\n

The upper levels of the podium would overhang slightly to provide shelter and weather protection to pedestrians below. Office space would be included in the podium as well as amenities and residential units.<\/p>\n
