<\/a><\/p>\nA proposed two-tower development called Claridge House<\/a> could replace a three-storey commercial plaza at 5740 Cambie Street. The Polygon Homes<\/a> proposal would add 80 market-rate rental units and 133 condos to the Cambie Corridor.<\/p>\n The site occupies a prominent location at the intersection of Cambie Street and West 41st Avenue. The area is dotted with commercial and retail buildings with residential neighbourhoods tucked behind the main streets.<\/p>\n Directly across the street is the Oakridge-41st Avenue Station of the SkyTrain\u2019s Canada Line and the sprawling Oakridge Centre. Home to Hudson\u2019s Bay, Tiffany & Co., and Crate & Barrel, the shopping centre is currently being redeveloped and will become a new cultural, transit and retail hub when completed in 2024.<\/p>\n Designed by DIALOG<\/a>, the development consists of a 14-storey rental building on the north end of the property and a 27-storey condo tower on the south. The towers would be connected by a shared four-storey podium, which would house commercial retail space at ground level and offices, including non-profit office space above.<\/p>\n The exterior of the podium is highlighted by a series of vertical fins that seem to pay homage to a similar design feature of the existing commercial build it would replace. Meanwhile, the two residential towers are characterized by glass balconies, vision glass window walls and metal panels.<\/p>\n The unit breakdown for the rental building includes 10 studio, 30 one-bedroom, 30 two-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom-plus-den apartments. The condo will offer 13 one-bedroom, 106 two-bedroom and 14 three-bedroom units.
