<\/a>Rendering:\u00a0architectsAlliance<\/em><\/p>\nLocation: 145 St. George Street, Toronto<\/em> An apartment building located just a few minutes\u2019 walk from Toronto’s Bloor Street West corridor could be replaced by a high-rise tower with more than double the amount of units.<\/p>\n Earlier this month, a Zoning By-law Amendment application was filed<\/a> with the City to build a 29-storey residential tower at 145 St. George Street. The developer, Tenblock, is also known for its collaboration with Tribute Communities on Y&S Condos<\/a> near Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue East.<\/p>\n The development site is located at 145 St. George Street on the northeast corner of St. George Street and Prince Arthur Avenue, just north of Bloor Street West. The approximately half-acre lot is occupied by a 12-storey rental apartment building with 130 units, along with surface and underground parking.<\/p>\n\n The proposed tower would house 341 residential units, 130 of which would be rental replacement units for the existing building that occupies the site. According to the application\u2019s project data sheet, the tenure of the remaining 211 suites is undecided at this time. Information on a developer-made website<\/a> for the 145 St. George Street proposal, which was picked up by<\/a> an UrbanToronto forum last week, explains that tenants who live in the building when the application is submitted will have a right to return to one of the new rental replacement units.<\/p>\n \u201cSteps away from the St. George Subway Station, this property provides an exciting opportunity for Tenblock to provide new residential units to our growing city and a stronger connection to our public realm,\u201d says the developer\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n
