<\/a>Rendering:\u00a0Ambient Designs Ltd.<\/em><\/p>\nLocation: 1921 Davenport Road, Toronto<\/em> A small grocery store near The Junction in Toronto\u2019s west end could be transformed into a purpose-built rental building.<\/p>\n An unnamed developer submitted a Site Plan Approval application to city planners last month<\/a> to construct a five-storey, 19-unit mid-rise at 1921 Davenport Road in Carleton Village.<\/p>\n The development lot in question sits on the southeast corner of Davenport Road and Laughton Avenue. The site currently houses a single-storey building occupied by a grocery store.<\/p>\n\n The proposed rental development would include ground-floor commercial units. Two entrances to the retail areas would front onto Davenport Road, and another onto Laughton Avenue. The Laughton Avenue frontage also provides access to two individual residential units and another entryway into the lobby of the building that accesses the remainder of the rental suites.<\/p>\n The building\u2019s exterior would consist primarily of brick until the fourth floor, with metal or painted wood finishes featured on the fifth level.<\/p>\n The 19 rental units within the mid-rise building would provide approximately 16,451 square feet of residential space. The units are broken down into 12 one-bedrooms, five two-bedrooms and two three-bedrooms, with typical unit sizes ranging from 597 to 980 square feet. Suites above the main floor would be provided with private recessed balconies.<\/p>\n
