<\/a><\/p>\nPhotos: James Bombales<\/em><\/p>\n Known as the Annex-Yorkville Connection, AYC Condos<\/a> is a new condo tower currently under construction at 181 Bedford Road, at the intersection of the two neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n The project by Metropia<\/a> and Diamondcorp<\/a> features a modern high-rise tower surrounded by three blocks of townhomes.<\/p>\n Construction on the TACT Architecture<\/a>-designed project began in 2018 when an underground garage and the public greenspace above were demolished to make way for the main tower. By the end of that year, crews had completed the excavation and shoring phase, resulting in a three-storey pit which would house the new underground garage.<\/p>\n Once a crane was installed in December 2018, the structure quickly began to work its way up towards its 27-storey final height. Another major milestone was celebrated in the summer of 2019 as the tower surpassed grade level and the adjacent townhomes began to take shape.<\/p>\n The first signs of glazing appeared in the spring of 2020, when a few rows of windows were installed on the lower levels. The project topped off the following season and work began on the tower\u2019s signature cantilevered roof.<\/p>\n Today, workers are still putting the finishing touches on the roof as scaffolding is still visible, however, the construction crane is no longer onsite. The rest of the building has also progressed significantly with exterior cladding, glazing and balcony glass now installed on over half of the structure.<\/p>\n Situated on the east and north sides of the tower, the townhomes have all been framed and are awaiting the installation of house wrap to cover the plywood exteriors. The block of towns immediately to the south of the tower is furthest along with its limestone cladding already in place.<\/p>\n When complete, AYC will house a total of 245 units and interiors by Patton Design Studio<\/a>. Amenities include a well-equipped fitness centre, party room with a private dining room, guest suite and media lounge.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
