<\/a>Photos: James Bombales<\/em><\/p>\nFor the average Torontonian, the site of Pinnacle One Yonge<\/a> is just another condominium replacing a former parking lot.<\/p>\n What they may not know is that it\u2019s actually the site of what will become Canada\u2019s tallest building. Rising 95 storeys above its prominent 1 Yonge Street address, SkyTower at Pinnacle One Yonge<\/a> will surpass The One<\/a> by Mizrahi Developments<\/a> (currently under construction), which previously held the title as Canada\u2019s future tallest building. At 313 metres (1,026.9 feet), it will also be 15 metres (49.2 feet) taller than First Canadian Place in the Financial District, which has been the country\u2019s tallest skyscraper since 1975.<\/p>\n With an estimated completion date of late 2024, it will be awhile before SkyTower takes its place in the Toronto skyline. The building is part of a larger community that will include five towers \u2014 three residential and two offices \u2014 surrounding the landmark Toronto Star building.<\/p>\n The Prestige Condos at Pinnacle One Yonge<\/a> is the first residential tower and is now under construction. When completed in 2022, the Hariri Pontarini Architects<\/a>-designed tower will rise 65 storeys above the southeast corner of the site, fronting Freeland Street. It\u2019s directly east of SkyTower and south of the third phase\u2019s 80-storey residence.<\/p>\n Construction began in 2018 with the demolition of the parking lot and excavation of the pit. A crane was installed by the end of the year, and in 2019, work began on the project\u2019s six-level underground garage.<\/p>\n Today, the massing for the expansive six-storey podium is complete and crews are now pouring the tower\u2019s 15th floor. Glazing has been installed on much of the podium, revealing a dark green\/grey window wall with dark mullions, while integrated balconies for podium suites are visible on the eastern facade.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
