<\/a><\/p>\nRendering:\u00a0TCA Architects<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n A proposed project containing 172 apartments and 23,200 square feet of retail and restaurant space has been given the green light<\/a> by the Marina del Rey Design Control Board. The three mid-rise edifices would replace four single-story commercial buildings at the corner of Via Marina and Washington Boulevard.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Developer Gold Coast West, LLC enlisted TCA Architects<\/a> to design the structures, which are each \u201cdistinguished by a feature architectural element,\u201d according to the design review submittal. The sawtooth fa\u00e7ade maximizes waterfront views and is intended to mimic ocean waves.<\/p>\n Rendering:\u00a0TCA Architects<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n Dubbed MDR95, the project calls for 146 one-bedroom and 26 two-bedroom apartments, ranging in size from 691 to 1,196 square feet. There would also be fifth- and seventh-floor sky decks, featuring spas, soft seating, umbrellas, daybeds and planters.<\/p>\n Rendering:\u00a0TCA Architects<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n The ground floor would tout 17,000 square feet of retail space and 6,200 square feet of restaurant space. The 1.93-acre site would be anchored by a brand new public plaza at its southwest corner boasting ample greenery, dining tables, a public art mural, shade trellis, bike racks and built-in seating.
