Housing market beginning to normalize after historically bad April: TD<\/a><\/strong>\r\n <\/div>\nOn the selling side of the market, seller intentions show a drastic change from a year prior, with the interest to list among homeowners dropping by nearly half.<\/p>\n
Just 17 percent of homeowners expressed an intention to put their home on the market within the next 12 months, according to the Ipsos survey. This marks a considerable drop from spring 2019, when 32 percent of respondents said that they were likely to list. COVID-19-related issues were the reason 22 percent of those surveyed said they were unlikely to list, while 80 percent of respondents reported they were unlikely to sell because they are satisfied with their current home.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe supply of listings was an issue before the onset of COVID-19, with market conditions tightening and price growth accelerating throughout the first quarter of 2020,\u201d said Jason Mercer, TRREB\u2019s chief market analyst, in the survey report.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Ipsos survey results suggest that the supply of listings will continue to be an issue as the economy and housing market recovers,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
