<\/a><\/p>\nRendering:\u00a0Togawa Smith Martin<\/span><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n A proposal calling for the construction of a six-story mixed-use project at the site of Taix French Restaurant in Echo Park <\/span>has been filed<\/span><\/a> with Los Angeles City Planning \u2014 but don\u2019t worry, Francophiles, a new iteration of the iconic eatery would be included in the design.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Developer <\/span>Holland Partner Group<\/span><\/a> plans to raze the current restaurant, parking lot and adjacent medical office building and replace them with 170 apartments and 13,000 square feet of commercial space. Just over 14 percent of the units would be reserved for very low-income tenants. Floorplans would include studio to three-bedroom units ranging in size from 584 to 1,300 square feet.<\/span><\/p>\n Image: Google<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n Taix Restaurant would remerge with a smaller footprint, around 6,000 square feet, but retain its \u201ccharacter-defining features,\u201d namely the bar, lounge and red signage. There would be four additional commercial spaces with modulated storefronts that reflect the surrounding neighborhood.<\/p>\n Dubbed Echo Park – Taix Square in the architectural drawings, the <\/span>Togawa Smith Martin<\/span><\/a>-designed project would also offer three levels of parking with 200 vehicle spaces. Residents would be welcomed by a ground-floor lobby, leasing office and multi-purpose room.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
