In an effort to combat California\u2019s severe housing shortage, Governor Gavin Newson declared residential construction an essential service, allowing it to continue amid the statewide stay-at-home order.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/LandmarkII-4-min.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[201572]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-201587\" src=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/LandmarkII-4-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Construction of Landmark II kicked off in November 2018 and is now growing skyward with the help of a tower crane. An existing parking garage is being integrated into the design of the apartment building, and was retrofitted to support the extra weight and withstand seismic activity.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/LandmarkII-7-min.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[201572]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-201589\" src=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/LandmarkII-7-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Developed by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/builder\/douglas-emmett\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Douglas Emmett<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Landmark II is touted as the \u201cfirst luxury high rise residential project west of the 405 in more than 40 years.\u201d The completion of the project will take about three years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/LandmarkII-1-min.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[201572]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-201592\" src=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/LandmarkII-1-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/architect\/gensler\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gensler<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, an international architecture, design, planning and consulting firm, designed the modern glass apartment tower, while SWA Group conceived of the publically accessible one-acre greenspace that will surround the property.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/landmark-II-min.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[201572]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-201594\" src=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/landmark-II-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"574\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Once complete, Landmark II will feature 1,090 parking spaces and 376 apartments in studio, one- and two-bedroom layouts.
