<\/a><\/p>\nPhoto: Google<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n Plans for two new midrise apartment buildings have been proposed in Westwood just a couple blocks away from one another. 1533 South Veteran Avenue<\/a> \u2014 currently a two-story, four-unit apartment building \u2014\u00a0could become a brand new five-story, 14-unit apartment building with 13 parking spaces.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Two of the units would be set aside for very low-income tenants and the unnamed developer is seeking Transit Oriented Communities (TOC) incentives as the proposed project is within a half-mile of bus routes. Among the TOC incentives requested are an open space reduction of 700 square feet (open space would be provided above ground level instead) and a height increase of 22 feet.<\/p>\n Photo: Google<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n The second proposed project, 1635 South Camden Avenue<\/a>, calls for a six-story apartment building with 14 units and a subterranean parking structure for 15 vehicles. A shuttered two-unit residence built in 1937 currently occupies the lot.<\/p>\n The proposed 15,670-square-foot apartment building is also seeking TOC incentives, including a building height increase to 67 feet, a 25 percent reduction of the required open space, and an allowance for up to 25 percent of that open space to be located above ground level. Siavash Showghi is developing the project, while Majid Nael & Assoc. Bldg. Design will serve as the architect.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
