The seven-acre Lower Woodside, California\u00a0property is asking $48.8 million. The current owners purchased the foreclosed home during the height of the recession for only $6.175 million.<\/span><\/p>\n 1550 Portola Road comes with equestrian facilities, a swimming pool, pool house, fire pits, outdoor kitchen, lush gardens, and even a freshwater lake. The house spans nearly 6,000 square feet, and includes five bedrooms, seven and a half bathrooms, a gourmet chef\u2019s kitchen, games room, and a master bedroom wing.<\/p>\n Built in 1915, the landscaping was first designed by architect Arthur Cobbledick, who was also responsible for the serene Morcom Rose Garden in Oakland. Adelaide Kirkbride, a socialite from Santa Barbara, fell in love with the home and resided there until her death at age 87. She and her husband, Malcolm C. Kirkbride, hired interior designer A. Dudley Kelly to renovate the home during the 1950s.<\/p>\n Dubbed a \u201cstorybook property\u201d by the realtors, the kitchen comes complete with enough appliances to impress Tom Colicchio, while the master bedroom boasts a fireplace, ensuite bath and a balcony with French doors.<\/p>\n Positioned smack-dab between San Jose and San Francisco, those wealthy enough to afford the steeply priced home will be able to enjoy the benefits of the city and be in close proximity of the Silicon Valley campuses.<\/p>\n For those curious, \u201cCanardia\u201d is a play on the French word \u201ccanard,\u201d meaning duck.
