In 1946, business was booming so Haglund opened the flagship \u201cAcres of Clams\u201d restaurant. According to <\/span>HistoryLink<\/span><\/a>, in 1965 he began setting off fireworks over Elliott Bay every \u201cFourth of Jul-Ivar.\u201d His charm took him into a career as a radio personality and Puget Sound’s principal champion of regional folk music. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, in 1976, Haglund bought Seattle’s iconic Smith Tower. He served as the city’s resident character until he died in 1985.<\/span><\/p>\n Photo: <\/span>Estately<\/span><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n His massive waterfront compound at 2938 Fuhrman Avenue East, now on the market for $4.9 million, was originally owned by Seattle’s illustrious Fuhrman family. The homes are currently occupied by long-term tenants, some of whom knew Haglund way back when. As Curbed learned from the listing agent, the dock homes are not floating as one might suspect. The houses are one of the few properties built on pilings in the entire Seattle region. They are known as \u201chomes over the water.\u201d The triplex features three decks, each with their own water view overlooking Portage Bay.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
