The \u2018vertical forest\u2019 will include 1,100 trees from 23 local species, plus 2,500 cascading plants and shrubs. Combined, the towers will produce 132 pounds of oxygen each day, while absorbing 25 tons of carbon dioxide per year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is the second of its kind for Italian architect Stefano Boeri, who completed <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stefanoboeriarchitetti.net\/en\/portfolios\/bosco-verticale\/\" class=\"external\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bosco Verticale<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a pair of residential towers in Milan\u2019s Porta Nuova district, in October 2014. Nanjing Green Towers is set to become the first Vertical Forest built in Asia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The taller tower, which measures 656 feet, will feature offices, a museum, green architecture school and a private rooftop club. The adjacent tower, 354 feet high, will become a Hyatt hotel with 247 suites and a swimming pool on the rooftop. There are also plans for a 65-foot podium that will host shops, restaurants and a conference hall.<\/p>\n<p>Nanjing Green Towers will help to facilitate the regeneration of local biodiversity. The development is located in an area of the city that\u2019s currently experiencing an economic boom, and is expected to lead the modernization of southern Jiangsu Province.<\/p>\n<p>The two-tower development is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
