<\/a>Rendering: <\/span><\/i>bKL Architecture<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/p>\nChina\u2019s Shanghai Tower only just became\u00a0the <\/span>country\u2019s tallest skyscraper<\/span><\/a>, but it looks like it might not\u00a0be long before it loses that designation. bKL Architecture recently submitted plans for the H700 Shenzhen Tower, and the firm says it will be over 100 meters higher than Shanghai Tower. <\/span><\/p>\n Standing 632 meters high, Shanghai Tower is not only the tallest skyscraper in China, but also the second-tallest building worldwide, behind only Dubai\u2019s 829.9-meter Burj Khalifa. If approved, the H700 Shenzhen Tower will stand comfortably between the two at 739 meters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n bKL Architecture says\u00a0the tower will be\u00a0composed of \u201cthree transforming design components: the shape, the structure, and the sky gardens.\u201d Renderings released so far give a good idea of shape and structure \u2014 and what the building will look like when it’s lit up at night \u2014 but personally we can’t wait to see\u00a0what the sky gardens will look like.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The H700 Shenzhen Tower will be located in Shenzhen\u2019s Luoho District, and bKL Architecture sees it becoming \u201ca technical expression of the developing region.\u201d It will be surrounded by a plaza featuring retail, civic and institutional buildings, and will apparently be in good company \u2014 Shenzhen Kingkey Group, its developer,\u00a0has another tall tower planned for\u00a0an adjacent site, and intends\u00a0to connect the two with an overpass.<\/p>\n In total,\u00a0over a hundred urban renewal projects<\/a> are now\u00a0in the pipeline in the Luoho District \u2014 the area forms a gateway between Shenzhen and Hong Kong and is growing rapidly.<\/p>\n Plans for the H700 Shenzhen Tower still need to be approved by the Luoho District\u2019s government, and we\u2019ll be watching closely to see whether the building gets the okay. <\/span>If similar skyscrapers are any indication, it may be some time before it\u2019s built \u2014\u00a0the Burj Khalifa took over five years to build, and Shanghai Tower took nearly a decade.<\/span><\/p>\n Worldwide the building will be second only to Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":49,"featured_media":155891,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"content-type":"","apple_news_api_created_at":"","apple_news_api_id":"","apple_news_api_modified_at":"","apple_news_api_revision":"","apple_news_api_share_url":"","apple_news_coverimage":0,"apple_news_coverimage_caption":"","apple_news_is_hidden":false,"apple_news_is_paid":false,"apple_news_is_preview":false,"apple_news_is_sponsored":false,"apple_news_maturity_rating":"","apple_news_metadata":"\"\"","apple_news_pullquote":"","apple_news_pullquote_position":"","apple_news_slug":"","apple_news_sections":[],"apple_news_suppress_video_url":false,"apple_news_use_image_component":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[11269],"tags":[],"coauthors":[10332],"apple_news_notices":[],"yoast_head":"\n<\/a>Rendering: <\/span><\/i>bKL Architecture<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>Rendering: <\/span><\/i>bKL Architecture<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>Rendering: <\/span><\/i>bKL Architecture<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/p>\n
