It is believed to be the most expensive single residential real estate deal in US history. However, as BuzzBuzzHome reported in September<\/a>,\u00a0details on the exact nature of the deal vary considerably. CNBC<\/a> refers to the property as a mid-level \u201ctriplex\u201d while Page Six<\/a>\u00a0says Griffin bought\u00a0up several penthouse units to convert into one. If the\u00a0CNBC report is accurate, Griffin landed\u00a0more than 18,000 square feet spread over three floors, including units for staff and guests. And with the reported\u00a0$200 million price tag, that works out to a cost of about $11,100 per square foot.<\/p>\n Earlier in 2015, before\u00a0Ken Griffin bought $200 million worth of condo at\u00a0220 Central Park South<\/a>,\u00a0the most expensive apartment purchase ever in Manhattan occured\u00a0when a mystery buyer dropped $100.47 million on the two-level penthouse apartment at\u00a0One57. At the time, New York Daily News\u00a0said it was\u00a0the first single-family home to sell for more than $100 million in New York City’s history<\/a> — which technically still holds true as\u00a0Griffin’s $200 million purchase reportedly includes several\u00a0units.<\/p>\n The\u00a08,275-square-foot penthouse sold for\u00a0$50,917,500 ($6,153 per square foot). The home was originally listed for $60 million, so the mysterious new owner<\/a>, got themselves a bit of a deal on the six-bedroom penthouse.<\/p>\n According to The Telegraph<\/a>, pharmaceutical billionaire Cyrus Poonawalla bought the\u00a0former maharaja’s mansion and US consulate in Mumbai from the US government for around 7.5\u00a0billion\u00a0rupees\u00a0—\u00a0approximately $111.6 million USD — making\u00a0it the most expensive ever residential purchase in India. But despite the jaw-dropping price, it\u00a0still isn’t Mumbai’s most expensive home. The title belongs to Antilia<\/a>, the 570-foot private residence of\u00a0India\u2019s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, who spent\u00a0$1 billion on the\u00a027-story monstrosity.<\/p>\n After a 17-month contract period,\u00a0the\u00a012,516-square-foot penthouse in Miami’s\u00a018-story Faena House condo tower sold for $60 million, reported\u00a0Notable<\/a>\u00a0in September. Overlooking Miami Beach\u2019s widest stretch of white sand, the multi-level, glass-walled penthouse has\u00a0five bedrooms, two kitchens, a media room, dressing room, great room, private elevator, and a 9,900-square-foot Brazilian-style terrace, complete with a 70-foot-long infinity pool.<\/p>\n It started life as a horse stable\u00a0on London’s Upper Grosvenor Street, then in the 1920s it was converted into a\u00a0Mayfair garage that housed Bentley racing cars before it was finally transformed into its current form: a four-story, seven-bedroom home. According to Evening Standard<\/a>, “the world’s most expensive mews house”\u00a0is set over four floors\u00a0and has its own staff quarters, theater, gym, elevator, wine cellar, rooftop terrace, 43-foot staircase and a chandelier the height of three stories. It was reportedly bought by\u00a0Qatar\u2019s former deputy prime minister and top power broker Hamad Khalifa Abdullah Al-Attiyah.<\/p>\nManhattan was home to a jaw-dropping\u00a0$200-million condo transaction in the summer.<\/h2>\n
