1898<br \/>\n<strong>Height<\/strong>: 218 feet, 10 floors<br \/>\n<strong>Location<\/strong>: 690 Market Street<br \/>\n<strong>Interesting facts<\/strong>: The Chronicle Building was San Francisco\u2019s first skyscraper and the tallest building on the West Coast when it was first completed in 1890. In 1905, a celebration of the re-election of Mayor Eugene Schmitz stopped in front of the building and launched fireworks, which ignited the wooden clock tower atop the building.
