According to the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV), September 2015\u00a0sales were 32.9 per cent above the 10-year average for the month.<\/p>\n<p><script id=\"infogram_0_vancouver_area_home_sales_all_property_types_sept_14___sept_15\" src=\"\/\/e.infogr.am\/js\/embed.js?JyE\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<div style=\"width:100%;border-top:1px solid #acacac;padding-top:3px;font-family:Arial;font-size:10px;text-align:center;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/infogr.am\/vancouver_area_home_sales_all_property_types_sept_14___sept_15\" style=\"color:#acacac;text-decoration:none;\" class=\"external\">Vancouver-area home sales (all property types): Sept &#8217;14 &#8211; Sept &#8217;15<\/a> | <a style=\"color:#acacac;text-decoration:none;\" href=\"https:\/\/infogr.am\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"external\">Create infographics<\/a><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Residential home sales have been trending at 25 to 30 per cent above the ten-year sales average for most of the year. The number of homes listed for sale hasn\u2019t been keeping up with the demand,\u201d said REBGV president Darcy McLeod in a statement. &#8220;It\u2019s this dynamic that\u2019s placing upward pressure on home prices, particularly in the detached home market.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And yes indeed prices also\u00a0climbed higher in September. The benchmark home price for all property types in the region ended the month at\u00a0$722,300, up 13.7 per cent year-over-year. infographics<\/a><\/div>\n<h2>Metro Vancouver buyers compete\u00a0for fewer listings<\/h2>\n<p>New home listings in Metro Vancouver totaled 4,846 in September 2015, a 7.9 per cent decline compared to the 5,259 new listings reported\u00a0during the same month a year ago.\u00a0The total number of properties listed for sale on the real estate board\u2019s MLS is 10,805, a 27 per cent decline compared to September 2014 and a 0.8 per cent decline compared to August 2015.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At no point this year has the number of homes listed for sale exceeded 14,000, which is the first time this has occurred in the region since 2007,&#8221; McLeod said.<\/p>\n<p>For more, the complete September statistics package can be seen <a
