<\/a>Photo:\u00a0DuProprio\/Facebook<\/a><\/em><\/p>\nYellow Pages has announced that they have acquired popular Montreal-based real estate networking website ComFree — or DuProprio in French\u00a0— for $50 million. The deal will take effect July 1st.<\/p>\n
ComFree\u00a0is a for-sale-by-owner, commission-free\u00a0real estate network. It is the fourth most visited real estate website\u00a0in Canada and the top site\u00a0in Quebec, holding a 17\u00a0per cent\u00a0share of the province\u2019s listings market.<\/p>\n
“The acquisition of ComFree\/DuProprio grows Yellow Pages into a leading digital real estate marketplace, extending our reach of Canadian home buyers and sellers and strongly positioning the Company to monetize consumer audiences within this sector,” Yellow Pages CEO Julien Billot stated in a release.<\/p>\n
The deal comes just one week after Zoocasa, another online\u00a0Canadian real estate brokerage,\u00a0announced it would shut down operations effective June 22nd<\/a>. The Rogers-affiliate was reportedly<\/a> losing about $1 million a month for much of the last two years.
