\"rendering<\/a>With Seattle’s\u00a0average rent<\/a>\u00a0on the rise, new development projects are attempting to make the city\u00a0more affordable with the introduction of micro-units. These tiny living spaces are being presented as a cost-effective solution for increasing student housing and urban density.<\/p>\n

Yobi Apartments<\/a> in Seattle\u2019s First Hill neighborhood is set up much like a student residence — unsurprising, since it\u2019s within walking distance of Seattle University, Seattle Central College and several teaching hospitals. Units range from 147 to 200 square feet and residents share a common area with a kitchen, meant to encourage social interaction.<\/p>\n

Plan C is the smallest of the micro-apartments at just 147 square feet. It includes a bed, desk, toilet, shower, sink and closet. The unit is smartly designed with large, north-facing windows, high ceilings, ample storage and loft options. While it\u2019s not luxury living, the 45 studio apartments at Yobi are leasing from $765 to over $995 per month — well below the city average. For those who don\u2019t mind a little small talk in the communal kitchen, it\u2019s well worth the cost.<\/p>\n
