A five-story development that will replace a West Village sex shop got the design OK from the Landmarks Preservation Commission on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Jackson Group’s mixed-used project, designed by SRA Architecture + Engineering, will work the corner of West 11th Street. The site’s existing one-story structure, home to adult toy store Fantasy World, will be demolished.<\/p>\n

The original proposal, presented in April, featured a masonry facade on the West 11th Street side and a metal-glass facade facing Seventh Avenue South, Curbed<\/a> reported. The new design, unanimously approved by the LPC, will incorporate more relief to the masonry on West 11th, swap out a lot of the metal on the Seventh Avenue facade and replace the white portions of the design with black. <\/p>\n

The Jackson Group bought the property from Tilou Realty for $4.1 million in February 2013, according to Department of Finance records records. Last November, the developer filed permits<\/a> for a three-unit project with 1,600 square feet of commercial space and 4,850 square feet of residential. The proposed apartments were two full-floor units and a duplex on the top floor. The plan exam application was disapproved in December.<\/p>\n
