{"id":101133,"date":"2014-09-10T16:40:53","date_gmt":"2014-09-10T20:40:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/?p=101133"},"modified":"2024-02-19T03:01:36","modified_gmt":"2024-02-19T08:01:36","slug":"68-charlton-rendering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/archives\/68-charlton-rendering","title":{"rendered":"This can&#8217;t possibly be the first rendering for Extell&#8217;s 68 Charlton"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 id='pressboard-ad-sponsorship-tag' style='margin-bottom: 35px;'><\/h4><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/2014\/09\/68-charlton-rendering.html\/68-charlton-street-rendering\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-101140\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-101140\" src=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/68-Charlton-Street-rendering.jpg\" alt=\"68 Charlton Street rendering\" width=\"1000\" height=\"659\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A rendering is out for Extell Development&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/new-york-ny\/70-charlton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">68 Charlton Street<\/a>, which could bring the first affordable housing units to Hudson Square.<\/p>\n<p>In February, the developer announced plans to build a 22-story through-block project with 116 units, the <a href=\"http:\/\/thevillager.com\/2014\/02\/27\/affordable-units-will-be-part-of-project-in-hudson-square\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"external\">Villager<\/a> reported. Of the apartments, 91 would be market-rate co-ops and 25 would be affordable rentals. The proposal, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/html\/mancb2\/downloads\/pdf\/fullboard_2014\/02february2014_fullboard.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"external\">as presented to Community Board 2 at the beginning of the year<\/a>, designated two separate 22-story towers, one facing Charlton Street and one facing Vandam Street.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s uncertain just how tall the building will be; <a href=\"http:\/\/a810-bisweb.nyc.gov\/bisweb\/JobsQueryByNumberServlet?requestid=7&amp;passjobnumber=121235822&amp;passdocnumber=01\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"external\">permits<\/a> filed in October 2013 call for a 13-story, 79-unit structure measuring 115,296 square feet, with Beyer Blinder Belle as the architect of record. Those permits were granted partial approval and issued last month; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livabl.com\/articles\/2014\/08\/68-charlton.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">excavation work has been in full swing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The project will be completed by Winter 2016, according to on-site signage.
