We’ve compiled a definitive list of the most active residential construction neighborhoods in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. Hell’s Kitchen<\/a> (2,630 units), the Financial District<\/a> (1,493) and Midtown East<\/a> (1,177) were the top three hotbeds of building activity in Manhattan, whereas Downtown Brooklyn<\/a> (2,112), Williamsburg<\/a> (1,772) and Crown Heights<\/a> (627) were the big winners in Brooklyn. However, the No. 1 neighborhood in all five boroughs was Long Island City<\/a>, with a prodigious 4,547 housing units currently being built.<\/p>\n Residential construction spending in the city is estimated to increase by 50 percent in 2014, according to a report released last month<\/a> by the New York Building Congress. This year, the housing sector is expecting to account for $10.2 billion in construction spending, up from 2013’s record high of $6.8 billion.<\/p>\n The figures below are taken from BuzzBuzzHome data as of August 28.
