Floorplan of the week: $66 million penthouse in SoHo with 800-year-old lava stone countertops

Penthouse 1 bears a price point as fantastical as its building’s namesake. A former printing facility built in the 1880s, the Puck Building has been refurbished and artfully redesigned by architect Jose Ramirez. The iconic Romanesque Revival style building now houses six residences with industrial design features and impressive city views.

Penthouse 1 has been dubbed the “Crown Jewel of SoHo,” and for good reason — the six bedroom, seven and a half bathroom suite also boasts a home theatre, gym, wine cellar, yoga lawn, putting green, hot tub and wet bar. Its interiors are characterized by hand-poured Terrazzo floors, a $100,000 La Cornue stove, solarium windows and kitchen countertops crafted from 800-year-old lava stone extracted from Mount Etna in southern Italy. If sold, the penthouse would set a new record for downtown Manhattan — to date, the most expensive condominium sale ever was a penthouse at Chelsea’s Walker Tower for $50.9 million.
