We continue our ongoing “listomania” today by documenting the most interestingly shaped islands found around the world (featuring archipelagos!).

Things we learned while compiling this list: Dubai is very ambitious, anything with an -esia suffix is usually awesome, and even in summer, we still kinda wish we were somewhere tropical.

So sit back and prepare yourself for some amazing photos. Ready? Okay, scroll down!

A view from a plane’s cabin of Dubai’s famous artificial archipelagos project known as “The World”. It’s disappointing to hear that these islands are slowly eroding due to lack of upkeep and financial difficulties.

Islands in Bora Bora in French Polynesia. Uhh, Canadian summer can be nice, but it’s tough to beat a tropical paradise.
Gotta love Micronesia! The Rock Islands in Palau are a small collection of limestone and coral uprisings. Fun fact: Palau is one of the world’s smallest and youngest sovereign nations.
This would be a great honeymoon location. Too bad no one lives on the Galesnjak Island. Though if you’re interested in attempting to inhabit this heartshaped island, it’s located on the Adriatic Sea, near Croatia.
Dubai’s second appearance on this list. The Palm Islands is an artificial archipelago project that will house major commercial and residential infrastructure.
While this island’s shape is generally unimpressive, we’re big fans of the interior layout. It just looks so perfect.
This island doesn’t look particularly hospital, but it does look like a rabbit!

That concludes our top seven ridiculously shaped islands countdown. So what do you think? Is Dubai taking island-making too far? Is anyone else booking their ticket to Bora Bora right now?
