The Mayfield Village team will soon honour the City of Brampton’s heritage with an upcoming event that you don’t want to miss.

During the Mayfield Village Blooms event, the builders — Aspen Ridge HomesCountrywide Homes, Greenpark Homes, Marycroft Homes and Regal Crest Homes — will unveil the Peter Archdekin Farmhouse, a restored heritage home that once belonged to the family of James Archdekin, one of the most popular mayors in the city’s history who held the position from 1969 to 1982.

To further commemorate the community, the developers will present a heritage plaque to the city on Saturday, May 3rd at noon. The festivities will take place at the presentation centre, located at 4585 Mayfield Road just east of Dixie Road, where Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell, Councillor John Hutton and other city officials will be in attendance.

Interested buyers, listen up: those who attend can take advantage of new home and lot releases, various giveaways and other incentive packages offered by each of the five developers.

The heritage house itself was built by Peter Archdekin, James’ ancestor, in the 1860s after they arrived from Ireland in the 1820s. The family was among the first to settle in the area, and their Gothic-style home is one of the few surviving buildings in the community from that time period.

At that time, the area was known as Mayfield Village. The new Mayfield Village harkens back to a simpler time when everything you needed was accessible and within walking distance.

Once complete, the new pedestrian-oriented community will boast a distinct urban feel thanks to the east expansion all the way to Airport Road. There will also be commercial retail and office lands on both sides of the 410, just south of Mayfield Village, creating more job opportunities for residents.

The developers also recently released new live/work units (pictured above) that will be situated on Inspire Boulevard. The street winds through the middle of the development, which serves as the project’s main transit hub. In other words, the homes will be located in the heart of the community.

Prices for available homes start from the upper $300,000s and units range in size from 1,484 to 3,441 square feet.
