Flip on any reality real estate TV show — Selling Sunset, Million Dollar Listing, Shahs of Sunset — and it’s easy to see why Los Angeles commands more high-priced zip codes than any other city in the United States.
Investment real estate search platform RealtyHop has ranked the country’s most expensive zip codes using the median list price of each geographical area. Ten Los Angeles neighborhoods made the list, besting New York City, which featured six of the top 100 zip codes.
Beverly Hills’ iconic 90210 zip code placed third nationwide with a median asking price of $5,649,500. The current priciest home on the LA market, 67 Beverly Park Court, is listed for a cool $160,000,000 and lies within the boundaries of the 90210 zip code.
Beverly Hills’ neighbor to the north, Bel Air, nabbed sixth at $4,495,000, while Pacific Palisades came in 20th with a median list price of $3,395,000. Brentwood, home of The Getty and numerous hillside estates, took 39th place at $2,537,500.
Venice, the epicenter of Silicon Beach, boasted a median asking price of $2,299,500, earning it the number 51 slot. The Sherman Oaks neighborhood of the Valley, a hotspot for families looking for larger lots and quick access to the 405, stood in 54th place at $2,294,500.
The zip code encompassing Melrose, Fairfax, La Brea and the Miracle Mile had a median list price of $2,038,500, positioning it at number 68. Next came the greater Beverly Grove area, including West Hollywood West and Carthay Circle, in 74th place at $1,995,000.
The Westside had the highest concentration of well-to-do zipcodes, but one Eastside neighborhood made the list (#85) — Los Feliz with a typical list price of $1,895,000. Rounding out the top 10 for Los Angeles was the Sunset Strip, Norma Triangle and The Bird Streets, ranking 86th overall at $1,895,000.
A whopping 68 out of the 100 priciest zip codes are located in California. The most expensive market overall was Atherton, a small town outside Palo Alto, with a median price of $8,650,000.
