The Shenzhen headquarters of music download company A8 Music, China’s version of Spotify, has an interactive LED facade that “plays” the tunes its users are downloading in real time.
The sound wave-shaped building was designed by Shenzhen-based firm UNIT Studio. At night, the lights flare in concert with data collected from A8’s website, creating a live visualization of users’ music tastes.
“The approach for this project was to create a tower who embodies its function; there by promoting the dynamism of music as well as the hosted user,” UNIT Studio explains on their website.
The LED facade is arranged according to the Scriabin keyboard, where music notes are associated with specific colors. The concept was developed by Russian composer Alexander Scriabian.
