Equity Residential’s bold rental 170 Amsterdam is all glassed up and opening this spring.

The 20-story, 239-unit building between West 67th and West 68th streets will offer studio, to three-bedroom apartments. The X-ed up structure topped out in March 2014, Curbed reported. Designed by Handel Architects, the development’s facade is cross-hatched with support beams made of reinforced concrete, for an exoskeleton effect.

6sqft points out that the project will be the first residential building in the city with a concrete “diagrid” structural system. The exoskeleton minimizes the need for internal supports, allowing for more interior space where columns would normally be.

170 Amsterdam will open in April, according to the developer’s site. Interiors will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, wood flooring, quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances. Amenities will include a 24/7 concierge service, rooftop terrace, lobby lounge overlooking a private garden, gym, yoga room, private dining room and children’s playroom.

The 20,700-square-foot site had been stalled before Chicago-based Equity Residential took over in 2011, the New York Post reported. The firm signed a 99-year lease for $76.5 million, with the intention of building a tower with approximately 230 apartments and 8,500 square feet of retail.
