A fire on the 20th floor of a Hell’s Kitchen condominium building killed a 27-year-old man and displaced dozens of residents.
The three-alarm fire occurred Sunday morning at The Strand, a 42-story building at 500 West 43rd Street.
Two men were critically injured in the blaze, officials told The New York Times — Daniel McClung, 27, was taken to Roosevelt Hospital, where he died. The other man, whom a friend identified as McClung’s husband, was transported to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell hospital, where he was in serious but stable condition Sunday night.
The fire was reported around 11 am About 24 to 27 apartments were damaged by the flames, which were under control by 1 pm. The cause of the incident is being investigated.

Atwal, his wife Nadja and their two-year-old son stayed at their balcony for more than an hour to escape the smoke, The New York Times reported.
