The era of rock and roll is alive and well in a new condo development coming to Toronto’s downtown core.

This week, developer Madison Group unveiled new renderings and details for its ALiAS Condos project in Toronto’s Old Town neighbourhood. Set to rise 45 storeys near Church and Richmond streets, ALiAS Condos is said to be inspired by “the freedom and glamour of rock and roll,” with the help of its geometric designs, modern amenities and punchy interiors by Studio Munge.

“Old Town is not only one of Toronto’s key intellectual centres, it’s a destination for the city’s most innovative thinkers and powerful cultural influencers,” said Josh Zagdanski, vice president of high rise at Madison Group, in a press release.

“We’re honoured to be able to add our own mark on what it means to experience urban freedom. That’s what we set out to accomplish with this blazing beacon of rock & roll attitude meets edgy sophistication, and I’m confident we’ve accomplished it,” he added.

Designed by Teeple Architects and Turner Fleischer Architects, the mixed-use development will feature gold-coloured window frames and glazed black brick that is designed to “cascade” down the building’s façade. An “iridescent gold crown,” would top the high-rise. Over 7,000 square feet will be dedicated to street-level retail space with spill out patios, and a new public park will be constructed on the building’s west side.

Upon entering ALiAS Condos, residents will be greeted by a monolithic reception desk below a hand-blown Baccarat for Chrome Hearts crystal chandelier that contrasts with the ribbed concrete walls and marble flooring. Taking cues from “timeless rockstar glam,” the tower’s 546 suites will showcase polished quartz, steel and porcelain accents. Layouts will range from 360 to 1,400 square feet, and will feature private terraces or balconies in some units.

When complete, ALiAS Condos will provide 18,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenity space according to Madison Group, which includes indoor/outdoor childrens’ play areas, a pet spa with an AstroTurf playpen, a fitness centre with private workout pods and party rooms with a pizza oven.
