Brampton is about to get a new high-rise residential building, one of the first in Canada’s second fastest growing city.

Forecasted for a 25 per cent growth in population over the next 20 years, Brampton is the second-fastest growing city in Canada with a population of 603,000, located a half hour outside of Toronto. National Homes and Brixen Developments are partnering to build DUO Condos at Malta and Steeles avenues, with the interiors designed by EsQape Design and architecture by IBI Architects.

“The launch of DUO Condos is an exciting milestone that will transform the way people live in Brampton,” said Andrew Iacobelli, the co-founder of Brixen Developments. “Situated minutes from the new Brampton Gateway Terminal LRT, DUO Condos will be a model for thoughtful communities, offering much-needed housing options and amenities that cater to the evolving demographics of the city.”

The amenities in the building were informed by focus groups, leading to a unique set of offerings including a dining room and social room with a full kitchen and bar, a co-working space and a fitness studio that includes a cardio section, yoga, pilates, spinning and a space for group exercise.

The building is close to many trails and green spaces, while schools, including Sheridan College, are nearby.

Meanwhile, the Brampton Gateway LRT is scheduled to enter service in the fall of 2024. This train will service riders from Brampton to Mississauga, with 19 stops en route to the Port Credit GO Station. If travelling by car, DUO Condos’ residents can reach Toronto within 30 minutes. The buildings are located by the 401, 407, 410 and the QEW highways.

“Since 1992, we have had the great privilege of contributing to Brampton’s growth and evolution, including the development of over 1,850 homes in eight communities,” said Jason Pantalone, the president and managing partner of National Homes. “Brampton is quickly becoming a new urban centre with its own distinct identity, and we’re thrilled to bring one of the city’s first high-rise condos to life, setting a benchmark for quality in a shared vision with Brixen Developments.”

One of DUO’s features is its central courtyard. The brick-paved, landscaped courtyard will act as a thoroughfare from the low-rise neighbourhood to Steeles Avenue. This area is set to be pedestrianized to complement the city’s Active Transportation Master Plan. The outdoor space has been created for residents and other locals to walk, cycle, or enjoy the outdoors.

The first tower of DUO Condos houses 350 residential units and 3,500 square feet of retail space at its doorstep. Studios, 1-bedroom, 1 plus flexible space, 2-bedrooms and 2-plus den floor plans are available.
