Located at Lakeshore Road West and Mississauga Road, Brightwater is a mixed-use development that will transform 72 acres of former industrial lands along Port Credit’s waterfront into a sprawling, sought-after master-planned community. The ambitious project is being developed by the Port Credit West Village Partners — an experienced consortium of Canada’s top developers, comprised of Kilmer Group, DiamondCorp, Dream Unlimited and FRAM + Slokker.
When complete, Brightwater will bring a mix of housing types to the area including thousands of new high-rise, mid-rise and townhouse residences. Prioritizing lively public spaces through pedestrian-focused design, the development will have a linear park and tree-lined promenade connecting residents to a vibrant main street retail corridor and a nine-acre waterfront park and trail system.
Poised to become a central neighbourhood hub, the Brightwater Village Square provides the perfect place to gather with friends and neighbours and catch up over coffee. This destination will feature year-round programming such as local farmers’ markets, pop-up celebrations and an annual Christmas tree lighting.
The first two phases of the residential component were launched in 2020 and consist of two Diamond Schmitt Architects-designed mid-rises situated on the northeast quadrant of the site. Following the sell-out success of the initial phases, Brightwater is launching the next chapter of the community — The Mason.
“It has been nearly one year since we launched the first phase of the Brightwater community, and we’ve been delighted by the reception so far,” said Ken Tanenbaum, Chairman of Port Credit West Village Partners. “The Mason is a special part of our story because it is located right at the heart of the 72-acre master-planned site. With The Mason, we’ve continued to deliver on our vision of excellent design and keeping the community experience at the forefront of our efforts.”
Standing nine storeys tall, The Mason will house 160 new condominiums and an exclusive collection of 16 townhouses. Designed by architectsAlliance, the mid-rise structure pays homage to the former 19th-century Port Credit Brick Company building that once stood on the site through its industrial-inspired architecture and red brick façade. The ground floor boasts 5,000 square feet of double-height commercial space with floor-to-ceiling windows that serve as an extension of the neighbouring main street retail corridor.
“When we began our work on The Mason at Brightwater, we wanted to bring a contemporary expression of a vibrant main street Ontario experience to life while incorporating the site’s rich history as a brickyard into the design details,” said Robert Cadeau, Senior Associate at architectsAlliance. “To optimize views and light, we flipped the original orientation of the site during our process so we could offer the south-facing courtyard as part of that expression. The linear park and the pedestrian promenade function as the arteries of The Mason, which will be the vibrant heart of the entire community.”
Interiors by Truong Ly Design blend natural elements and attractive colour palettes to create warm and inviting spaces. Step into the lobby and you’ll find a natural light-drenched space complemented with light wood-tones and stone patterns paired with ombre metallic bronze accents. Subtle nautical references are found throughout, such as rope light fixtures.
“Throughout our design process, we’ve envisioned the Brightwater community as a holistic exploration of elements from the earth to the waterfront,” said Truong Ly, Founder of Truong Ly Design Inc. “The Mason at Brightwater continues that journey, transitioning to a light, bright and airy design that is timelessly elegant and sophisticated.”
Amenities are situated off the main corridor and feature a sleek party room and co-working space facing an exquisite courtyard area. The fitness studio comes complete with a yoga and spin room, while a pet wash makes cleaning muddy paws quick and effortless. Other amenities include smart parcel storage, an executive concierge, and an eco-friendly community shuttle to the Port Credit GO station.
Priced from the high $500,000s, available suites at The Mason range in size from 470 to over 1,100 square feet and consist of one- and two-bedroom units, penthouses with sweeping views towards the lake, and a selection of townhomes. Each open-concept plan sports floor-to-ceiling windows, generous living areas and gourmet kitchens. Residents will also benefit from BrightLiving, a series of smart and sustainable home features that support a connected community, which includes public WiFi, a Brightwater Community App, smart thermostats, door locks and parking.
