The Heights of Harmony is a highly-anticipated master-planned community of singles and townhomes coming soon to North Oshawa’s Kedron neighbourhood. The development by Minto Communities GTA brings Net Zero Ready upgrades to Oshawa and features a variety of architectural styles including the developer’s new Modern Farmhouse collection.

Spanning 90 acres, The Heights of Harmony is Minto Communities GTA’s second development in Oshawa, after its successful Kingmeadow project on Simcoe Street North. Prices start from the high-$700,000s and prospective homebuyers can register online for exclusive updates.

Inspired by the rolling hills of the Kedron Farms, the community will blend a variety of architectural styles and materials to create a dynamic and visually appealing streetscape. The first phase offers 20-foot traditional townhomes and 36- and 43-foot single detached homes with French Country, Period Revival/Tudor, Craftsman and Canadiana exterior styles.

The launch of the development also marks the debut of the developer’s new Modern Farmhouse collection. Designed to pay homage to the surrounding fields and farm lands, the homes evoke a contemporary take on the classic farmhouse with white vinyl siding and brick cladding, large picture windows and contrasting architectural accents.

“At Minto Communities GTA, we understand that a home is one of the most important purchases families will make in their lives and that has informed our approach from conception to completion at The Heights of Harmony,” said Mike LaPlante, Vice President of Land Development, Minto Communities GTA.

“We’re proud to bring more options for families, young couples, and new homebuyers in the Oshawa community through homes that are both competitively priced and expertly designed with Net Zero Ready upgrade options, while bringing future residents closer to nature through parks, green spaces, and a trail network.”

In addition to the Modern Farmhouses, phase one of The Heights of Harmony will offer a Net Zero Ready upgrade for homebuyers, following the successful uptake of the initiative in Minto’s Union Village community in Markham. Net Zero Ready homes offer an improved building envelope and technologies that enable them to create as much energy as they consume over a calendar year, reducing emissions by up to 85 percent. This is achieved through the installation of more efficient windows, increased insulation, upgraded mechanical equipment, and a zoned HVAC system that allows a different temperature to be set in different areas of the home to reduce energy consumption. Additionally, the homes were designed with roofs that are optimized for solar panels should homeowners decide to install them in the future.

“Building upon our history of innovation, it’s really exciting to be introducing Net Zero Ready Home options to the Oshawa community after the fantastic reception in Markham earlier this year,” said Carl Pawlowski, Project Manager, Sustainability, Minto Communities GTA. “Net Zero homes are a win-win — they’re significantly better for our environment but they’re also better in terms of comfort for homeowners.”

Available layouts range in size from 1,992 to 3,049 square feet and are thoughtfully-designed to suit every preference, stage of life and lifestyle. For example, some models boast ground floor bedroom and bathroom options to support multi-generational families and aging-in-place. Plus, all homes will feature spacious backyards for outdoor enjoyment, while single homes can be upgraded with covered terraces for entertaining. Single homes also come standard with Minto Intelligence, an app-controlled smart home system that includes a water leak sensor, video doorbell, smart door lock and an outdoor camera system.

Located at Harmony Road North and Winchester Road East, the project is just minutes from highways 401 and 407, the Oshawa GO station, as well as plazas dotted with shops, supermarkets, cafes, clothing stores and restaurants. SmartCentres Oshawa North is only a six-minute drive south and is home to anchor tenants like Real Canadian Superstore, Walmart Supercentre, LCBO, HomeSense and Sport Chek. Plus, families will appreciate the proximity to schools like St. Anne Catholic Elementary School, Maxwell Heights Secondary School and Durham College.

Closer to home, a brand new 28-acre park with expansive lawns, hiking trails and sports fields is sure to become a community hub. Meanwhile, residents will have convenient access to a six-kilometer trail system that’s connected to local parks and greenspaces.
