With construction on Début Waterfront Residences scheduled to begin this summer, the city of Barrie is about to get a new landmark building. The ambitious development by Gary Silverberg is situated along downtown Barrie’s Dunlop Street West and features a two-tower residence designed by Oleson Worland Architects and Scott Shields Architects. This is the last chance for prospective buyers to purchase a home at pre-construction prices before demolition gets underway.

To celebrate the milestone, the developer has released a limited collection of exquisite corner suites starting on the 24th floor. These premium suites sport spacious layouts and abundant natural light in addition to sweeping views of the city and waterfront.

Situated on the southwest corner of the building, the 1,086-square-foot Suite C-09A features a thoughtfully-designed layout with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a den. A large foyer is equipped with a storage closet and separate laundry closet, while two additional storage closets are just around the corner in the main hallway. The secondary bedroom is tucked away on one end of the suite, next to the three-piece main bath, making it an ideal option for a guest or kid’s room. Meantime, those who work remotely will appreciate the private den that can easily double as a home office or library.

The main living area consists of an expansive, 21-foot open-concept space with a gourmet kitchen and an island overlooking the living room. Wall to wall windows deliver ample natural light and sweeping views of the city and waterfront, while a swing-out door provides access to the balcony for outdoor entertaining.

The principal room is situated off the hallway on the southeast corner of the suite and is a true retreat at the end of the day. It comes complete with a walk-in closet and a spa-like ensuite with dual vanities and a glass shower.

Homebuyers who need a third bedroom should consider the 1,043-square-foot Suite C-02 on the northwest corner of the building. Like the previous home, Suite C-02 features a corner layout with abundant natural light and space for growing families. The home touts three bedrooms and three bathrooms including a powder room.

Priced from $799,900, all suites at Début boast open-concept layouts with plenty of room for singles, couples, young families and empty nesters. Designed to maximize space and functionality, each suite is equipped with unique kitchen and bathroom storage features. For example, these corner suites have kitchens outfitted with multi-functional, moveable islands and drawer units on castors that can be positioned for various uses like a dining table or a work desk.

Located at 55 Dunlop Street West, Début offers an ideal location in the heart of downtown Barrie, just steps away from Heritage Park and the waterfront marina. Enjoy a refreshing stroll along the hiking and biking trails that lead to Centennial Beach, while taking in the views of Kempenfelt Bay. The trail continues towards Allandale Station Park, a 16.3-acre waterfront park.

Closer to home, a variety of local restaurants, art galleries, boutique shops and charming cafes dot the neighbourhood.

Within the development, residents will benefit from a long list of hotel-inspired amenities, starting with a grand lobby area complete with a concierge and 24-hour parcel storage. A seventh floor infinity plunge pool offers striking views of Lake Simcoe and doubles as an amphitheatre with seating in the winter. Other amenities include an outdoor barbecue area and fire pit, a boardroom/business centre and indoor and outdoor dining rooms.

A pedestrian arcade at the base of the six-storey podium provides a space where neighbours can meet, enjoy a cup of coffee, or browse the boutique shops and commercial spaces. The arcade will connect seamlessly to the new Market Precinct, planned on the site of the adjacent Barrie Transit Terminal, along with the lake and beaches beyond.

Envisioned by the City of Barrie as a major part of downtown Barrie’s revitalization plans, the Market Precinct is poised to become a creative, cultural and community hub. Combined with Début next door, the initiative supports complete community building, providing open spaces, retail and entertainment facilities where people can live, work and play. Area residents can expect a variety of activities from cooking classes and design workshops to cultural events and art exhibitions.
