Already well under construction at Burnhamthorpe Road and Confederation Parkway, M City is a 15-acre, master-planned community that will bring eight residences, two acres of parkland and new amenities to downtown Mississauga. Building on the success of the first three phases, developers Rogers Real Estate Development Limited and Urban Capital are preparing to launch the next phase called M4.
“The success of the first three phases of M City continues to prove that there is deep, and consistent demand to live in Mississauga, particularly in the emerging downtown,” said Mark Reeve, Partner at Urban Capital Property Group. “With M4, we’re raising the stakes, delivering one of the most tech savvy buildings in all of Canada.”
Designed by CORE Architects, the 67-storey tower’s contemporary exterior is characterized by repeating, vertical fins that rise out of the podium and terminate at different heights. The overall form of the building was designed to resemble an “S” when viewed from a bird’s eye perspective, allowing the architectural team to create a series of desirable corner units.
“Balancing the iconic designs from previous phases, M4’s sophisticated, timeless tower is juxtaposed against a striking, deconstructed podium composed of stacked rectilinear building blocks,” said Babak Eslahjou, Principal at CORE Architects. “The intention is to amplify the drama and architectural energy along the streetscape, while complementing the community-wide impact along Mississauga’s western skyline.”
Inside, the development will house 954 units and feature state-of-the-art infrastructure and a smart building ecosystem designed to support the future of smart living for M City residents.
“Everything about M City is inspired by our belief in Mississauga and the desire to deliver a world-class community to the city,” said John Anderton, Vice President, Treasurer, Rogers Telecommunications Limited. “When the site was first acquired over 50 years ago, the plan was to erect CHFI radio station antennas. Now, over five decades later, we may not be erecting radio antennas, but we are investing heavily in technology and broadcasting loud and clear what the future of residential living is going to look like in Mississauga and across Canada.”
Within M4, a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) built exclusively for the community will distribute the Rogers wireless cellular network throughout the building, increasing reliable connectivity for residents including inside elevators and in the parking garage. The Rogers Ignite W-Fi Promise, an advanced fibre-powered network, will ensure Wi-Fi coverage at home and throughout amenity spaces. Plus, all suites will have Rogers Ignite InternetTM Gigabit for consistent connection with upload and download speeds of up to 1.5 Gigabits per second.
M City residents will also benefit from exclusive access to the Rogers Smart Community 1VALET app. The smart building ecosystem includes everything from enhanced contactless building access and facial recognition entry to digital keys and smart door locks and thermostat integration.
Priced from the low-$400,000s, available suites range in size from 420 to 1,330 square feet with one-, one-plus-den, two-, two-plus-den, three- and three-plus den layouts.
Toronto-based Cecconi Simone designed the suite interiors as well as the 36,000 square feet of amenity spaces. Spread across three floors, the indoor and outdoor amenities include a Zen-inspired Nakaniwa Garden, open-air saltwater pool, sprawling outdoor amenity terrace, communal workspace, fitness centre, playroom, and a dual-purpose party room and co-working space.
