Toronto renters can now reserve units at The Waverley, a new purpose-built apartment community that is home to the former Silver Dollar Room and the Waverley Hotel.

In a press release issued late last week, Toronto-based developer Fitzrovia Real Estate announced that pre-leasing has officially begun at the 15-storey building that’s advancing towards completion near Spadina Avenue and College Street.

“We are thrilled to introduce The Waverley, a new boutique rental community,” said Adrian Rocca, CEO of Fitzrovia Real Estate, in the release. “Fitzrovia has teamed up with world-class designers, artists, and service providers to ensure Waverley residents enjoy a rental experience that has been truly reimagined.”

The Silver Dollar Room was formerly a popular live-music venue where notable artists like The Barenaked Ladies, Blue Rodeo and Bob Dylan performed, explains information on The Waverley’s website. The three-storey Waverley Hotel, opened in 1900, operated next door. After almost 60 years in business, The Silver Dollar Room closed its doors in May 2017 with local punk rock band METZ as the final act.

A new entertainment venue adjacent to The Waverley’s lobby is planned. As a registered heritage landmark, Fitzrovia Real Estate says that many elements of The Silver Dollar Room will be incorporated, such as the venue’s stage, murals, terrazzo floor and the iconic exterior sign.

Touting 166 new rental apartments, The Waverley provides a host of on-site amenities, including a rooftop infinity pool, co-working space, 24/7 concierge service, and a lobby lounge with a Boxcar Social and Greenhouse Juice location. Each of the studio to three-bedroom rental units are kitted out with quartz countertops, designer plumbing fixtures and nine-foot ceilings. Move-ins are expected to begin in April.
