It’s been a year since the start of demolition at XO Condos and the development is now celebrating a new milestone. Crews working on the Lifetime Developments and Pinedale Properties project are wrapping up shoring and excavation work in preparation for the next phase of construction.
Construction at XO Condos commenced in February 2020, when a McDonald’s restaurant and adjoining commercial strip were demolished. The McDonald’s has since relocated down the road at 1100 King Street West in the new Kings Club apartment complex.
Today, excavation of the underground parking garage is completed and workers will soon be pouring concrete footings for the tower crane. Once the crane is installed, forming work will begin on the structure’s three-storey underground levels. From there, it shouldn’t be long before construction progresses above ground.
As construction continues, XO Condos will rise around the old Bank of British North America building that sits at the corner of Dufferin Street and King Street West. The Ellis & Connery-designed Edwardian building was spared from demolition and will be incorporated into the community, bringing new retail spaces to the area.
Surrounding the heritage building will be a contemporary, 14-storey condominium designed by Turner Fleischer Architects, characterized by inset balconies, expansive glass and classic brickwork.
Inside, 307 units curated by Tomas Pearce Interior Design Consulting Inc. will feature open-concept layouts and high-end finishes. Amenities will include an outdoor terrace and barbecue space, fitness centre, lounge, kids’ zone, co-working/study space and ground-floor retail.
Pricing at XO Condos ranges from $987,900 to over $1,632,900. To learn more about the development, visit the project listing on BuzzBuzzHome.
