Now in its 15th year, the 69-acre Regent Park revitalization project by The Daniels Corporation and Toronto Community Housing has completely transformed the area between Parliament and River streets in downtown Toronto.

The ambitious master-planned community has resulted in thousands of new mixed-income housing units within newly-built low-, medium- and high-rise towers. It has also introduced numerous retail, commercial, cultural and athletic venues throughout the neighbourhood, making it one of the most sought-after residential destinations in downtown Toronto.

Situated on Dundas Street East and Tubman Street, DuEast Boutique Condominiums is one of Regent Park’s latest additions. The project was designed by CORE Architects and consists of a 29-storey west tower and an 11-storey east tower.

Like most of Regent Park’s new residences, the development replaces several old and outdated community housing complexes that were demolished in 2015. After site preparation and clearing, excavation officially began in early 2018, followed by the installation of the first tower’s crane in the summer. A second crane for the shorter east tower was in place by the end of the year.

By summer 2019, construction had surpassed grade level and the shared four-storey podium was starting to take shape. Another major milestone was hit in late 2019 when the shorter tower topped off. The taller tower reached rooftop level last summer, and today, both cranes have been disassembled.

A recent visit to the site shows much of the exterior cladding complete including its distinctive black and white colour scheme and frosted glass balconies. The eastern tower is wrapped with a series of glass balconies with vertical posts that create an eye-catching pattern on its facade. These elements are complemented with soaring vertical columns that form a pedestrian colonnade along Dundas Street East.

When complete, the two-tower development will house 437 suites and a long list of onsite amenities. Designed by Mason Studio, these include a grand lobby with a 24-hour concierge, lounge areas, and the Compass Club Fitness Centre with cardio and strength equipment, Crossfit and yoga spaces. More amenities are split between the third and fourth floor including a kids’ zone, party room, media room, co-working space, and indoor and outdoor lounge areas.
