Initially launched in 2015 as The James, the property at 440 Richmond Street West was rebranded — and slightly redesigned sans balconies and one less floor — as The Woodsworth in 2018. The boutique residence by Lamb Development Corp boasts a slim, dark and modern profile designed by architectsAlliance, plus modern amenities and sophisticated suites.

Located just west of Spadina Avenue, the project’s central location places it at the nexus of several downtown neighbourhoods, including the Fashion District, Entertainment District and Chinatown.

Construction began in 2019 with the demolition of the project’s sales centre which occupied an existing three-storey, brick commercial building. Excavation, shoring and work on the structure’s underground levels continued through the rest of the year and in early 2020 a crane was installed in the pit.

With the crane up, crews have made significant progress and construction has now surpassed grade level. Recent photos show forming work on the first few floors as the building rises towards its final height of 17 storeys.

When completed, The Woodsworth will feature 130 units and onsite amenities including a fitness centre and party room. Standard suite features include contemporary kitchens with stone surface countertops, glass or stone tile backsplashes, and pre-finished engineered wood floors in main living areas. Nine-foot ceilings are included as well as exposed concrete feature walls, columns and ceilings — a Lamb signature feature.
